compiz --replace won't work

Trying to do as said in: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager/CompizFusion#Install%20Compiz%20&%20Compiz%20Fusion%20plugins

I did the first steps, and I'm at 'Run Compiz' I can get into Advanced Desktop Effect Settings and apply things but nothing actually runs.

Can you give the Terminal output of "lspci | grep Disp; glxinfo | grep direct" and add it to this bug report?
