[ia64] Desktop live CD can't load debian-installer components

Binary package hint: debian-installer

I downloaded the latest IA64 live-CD I could find from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/7.10/release/ubuntu-7.10-desktop-ia64.iso and attempted to boot it on my ZX2000 (McKinley processor, 900MHz, 1G ram, 2x73GSCSI discs). I selected `live' from the boot menu.

After detecting CDROM and keyboard, the installation says it cannot load installer components from the CDROM.
The log screen on tty4 says that it's looking for a file called .../debian-installer/Packages which appears not to be on the CD.

Checking the CDs integrity succeeds.

Is there a more recent live CD?

The last few lines in the log are:
