compiz fails to start by default intrepid nvidia two different machines

Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

After upgrade from hardy to intrepid compiz fails to start. after boot I have to type in compiz --replace and then it loads properly.

One machine is a t61p running nvidia 173 (had major issues with 177)
the other is a desktop with two 8800gtx's in SLI using nvidia 177.

Please let me know what to attach.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add your ~/.xsession-errors, /var/log/Xorg.0.log and the output of lspci -vvnn to your bug report as separate attachments? Thanks in advance.
