Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
I tried to install the kubuntu intrepid alpha5 64bit while using an old /home/ partition. The installation process started out pretty smooth and after it was done "copying files" it said, "creating user," then the whole thing just crashed and stopped working, and now I have a half-installed operating system with a fubar'ed Master Boot Record.
I don't know if my /home/ partition had anything to do with it, and I don't know if it is a KDE-specific bug.
I am able to replicate the bug, but I don't know how to obtain the proper logs. Tell me which logs you guys would need, and I will get it for you ASAP.

hmmm I tried installing a 4th time and this time it worked... don't know why there was a difference.
However, when it completed the installation, there was no notification. The progress bar dialog simply closed, but the main ubiquity window stayed open and still had the Install button available to be clicked. That could certainly confuse a newbie.
