Patch for WINE to improve Final Fantasy XI performance

With the adoption of a windowed mode, Final Fantasy XI has been usable on WINE. A patch has been proposed (http://www.nabble.com/0001-Sanity-Check-in-ImmSetCompositionStringA-and-ImmSetC.patch-td18769013.html ) to fix a recursive loop and therefore improve performance of the game itself. Please consider adding this patch to the Ubuntu wine package.

Has the patch gone upstream yet? IE, is it in Wine 1.1.4 or later?

As far as I can tell, and also according to comments and the entry on the WINE AppDB (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2739 ), it has not made its way upstream yet.

This patch is not in 1.1.4. It has been submitted to upstream from Gentoo's bugzilla, but I have not seen any signs of it making it into the source tree yet. Including it in the ubuntu package would be most helpful to a lot of people, and it would also be a good idea for the ubuntu people to submit this upstream to try and get the wine devs to squeeze it in the next release.

If it's not too much trouble, could you poke the WineHQ mailing list or file a bug in WineHQ bugzilla so I can link it here? I'd like to see this get in upstream, but I'm not sure I understand what's going on in your application enough to file a proper bug that this would close.

Looking at AppDB, it appears the game now has gold status. Is your patch still helpful? Have you submitted it to <email address hidden>?
