Any idea how this crash was triggered? The retrace failed, meaning the backtrace is useless. Unless we can get this to reoccur somewhat reliably there isn't enough information to go on to work to resolve this issue.

I had this crash when i tried to set up the twitter plasmoid, the wallet opened to be set up and then plasma just crashed.

If this is reproducible, could you install kdebase-workspace-dbg and get it to crash again to try to get a better backtrace?

I reproduced it and i submitted the report im not sure if that gave you what you want, so what is it i need to do.

Oh, that was the duplicate I marked. Are you sure that kdebase-workspace-dbg was installed?

If it was that means apport is pretty messed up at the moment, and we'll have to get the backtrace the manual way as described here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKDE (If you have kdebase-workspace-dbg installed you can probably skip that -dbgsym stuff.)
Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

I just upgraded from the Kubuntu 8.04 and was playing with the workspace,
cause i'm not so adapted to the KDE4 interface.
I didn't played attention to what was or wasn't installed, cause I used the
"adept_manager --dist-upgrade-devel" command, like the kubuntu.org site is
saying.
Unfortunately, I can't help much more.

Same problem here. Did yesterday install in kubuntu 8.10 kwrite (package libkcddb1). Since then I have a crashing Plasma. In the attachement you'll find the debugging information.

Interesting: removing libkcddb1 doesn't help. After the crash, you can still work, and calling any application with alt+F2 in the graphical environement. But no panel or any Desktop-Icons show up.

Did a: strace -Ff -tt plasma 2>&1 | tee strace-plasma.log

See attached log-File. Hope this helps you.

It is unlikely that you crash is the original one because we have no backtrace for the original crash. Your crash could be any plasma crash, and perhaps a new crash not yet reported. I am closing this one since we never got a backtrace. Any other crashes should be reported separately.

And flyingfischer, I would recommend installing kdebase-workspace-dbg and getting a new kcrash file before filing another bug.

Thanks.

I was transferring some pictures from my camera to the Pictures folder when it happened. I don't know why, other than I installed a lot of plasmoids shortly before. They were mostly technical plasmoids about temp and disk use and lan, and the such. I am sorry to not have better info. By the way I love my Jaunty. Thanks!!!!
