Can you specify which ubuntu release you are using? I've already seen the problem you get and it got fixed on both 3 computers that I tested under a clean intrepid alpha 5 installation.

(Note: this may or may not be related to bug 245849; that was marked as fixed, and this looks *slightly* different, so here we are.)

Attached find a screenshot of Intrepid Alpha 6 (I assume it's Alpha 6; I downloaded it today.)

Note that this may have something to do with the kernel; when I upgraded another machine to 2.6.26-5 in order to work around bug 189398 in Hardy, usplash started showing corruption similar to this. (Not other packages were changed, and that includes usplash.)

However, upgrading to Intrepid current (kernel 2.6.27-4-generic 2.6.27-4.6, usplash 0.5.23) seems to fix this, at least under VMWare. Does the current kernel fix it for everyone else?

I saw this with some older kernels on my hardware, but with the current Intrepid kernel, I haven't yet. Are you still seeing the issue on an updated Intrepid install?

Actually I had to send the hardware back prior to Intrepid's release so didn't test if it got fixed. Anyway, will trust everyone else's comment that the issue is gone and close the bug.

I get this randomly with an Nvidia card. Should I file a separate bug?
