Bug Description

Hi
i installed xserver-xgl on my current drapper-amd64 box. When i start
xserver-xgl with the following command a new screen appears representing
the xserver (Xglx :1 -ac -screen 1024x768). However when i try to start
an application for the new screen i get the following output:

DISPLAY=:1 icewm

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 2 (X_ChangeWindowAttributes)
Value in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 8
Current serial number in ouput stream: 9

The screen representing the xserver remains on screen. 3d-acceleration works
fine with the opensource dri-drivers (r300). I also noticed
this behaviour some months ago when playing with then selfcompiled Xglx
on an Debian-amd64-box. However when i compiled the whole xserver-stuff
as 32-bit it would run. So it seems that this is an upstream problem
regarding amd64. I would like to help, however i need some advice on
setting up debug, or backtraces.

cheers Jan Kreuzer

Hi,

Does this bug still occur when using the latest Dapper packages?

Sorry for the delayed response. This bug must have been hiding all this while ;)

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

No, instead it hardlocks the whole system (eg i am not able to shutdown the computer clean over the power-button).

Havent used xserver-xgl in a while.

I tried now the packages from xgl.compiz.info .
Here It wont hardlock the system and icewm runs fine. However these packages are not official ubuntu packages and wont go into dapper, so the question is which one of the official xserver-xgl and libgl1-mesa-dri packages is responsible for my hardlock.

Anyway thanks for helping me

Jan,

I am closing this bug since the original reported problem does not happen anymore according to what you said.

Please open a new bug report if the hardlock problem persists with the latest packages. We'd appreciate it if you try the latest packages in Edgy Knot 3 to test the hardware.

Thank you for reporting this bug and being prompt with the feedback :)
