Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-2-generic

Hi.

I wish to inform a regerssion in this version kernel with audio controller. I am running an Acer 5930g laptop. Kernel 2.6.24 works fine with audio, anyway I upgraded to 2.6.27 to make intel wireless 5100 to work, but now audio controller plays "noisy" if using alsa (as many applications). Only using ALC888 partially solves the problem.
I attach required logs.

Confirm this on a Thinkpad T41 with "Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01)" audio device.

Besides the awful static noise I notice that 'alsamixer' has only 3 channels instead of the usual set:

Simple mixer control 'Master',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pswitch pswitch-joined
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
  Limits: Playback 0 - 255
  Mono:
  Front Left: Playback 138 [54%] [5.18dB] [off]
  Front Right: Playback 138 [54%] [5.18dB] [off]
Simple mixer control 'PC Speaker',0
  Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined
  Playback channels: Mono
  Mono: Playback [on]
Simple mixer control 'BaseFRQ',0
  Capabilities: penum
  Items: '18643' '37286'
  Item0: '18643'
