Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdm

I've upgraded from Kubuntu Hardy to Kubuntu Intrepid. I had kdm-kde4 as default display manger, also kdm from kde3 and gdm.

When I updated to Intrepid, I was asked which display manager to be the default, and I was given two options: gdm or kdm. I chose kdm.

However, when I restarted the computer, kdm didn't launch, claiming that it's wasn't the default display manager. Right, kdm path was not updated in /etc/X11/default-display-manager, it was still pointing to /usr/lib/kde4/bin/kdm !!

Then I hand edited the /etc/X11/default-display-manager so it points to /usr/bin/kdm, and all is ok now.

IIRC the script responsible for changing the path is only checking the actual executable name rather than the complete path.
