Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

Intrepid,
network-manager: 0.7~~svn20080818t061112+eni0-0ubuntu1

I have a VPN configuration file exported earlier in NM0.6, when I successfully configured my VPN connection via PPTP.

When I tried to import it in the current NM, I got error:
===
Cannot import VPN connection

The file 'Campus.pcf' could not be read or does not contain recognized VPN connection information

Error: unknown PPTP file extension.
===

After changing an extension to .conf (which is used in the NM 0.7 Export function) I got another error:
===
Cannot import VPN connection

The file 'Campus.conf' could not be read or does not contain recognized VPN connection information

Error: unknown error.
===

Expected behavior:
The configuration file recognized and Imported, VPN configuration is ready for use.

Neither export nor import work right now.
It appears import has been changed to parse an openvpn config file, instead of NM's own format.

However, even that doesn't work (it imports incomplete information)

Hi

In ubuntu 8.04 I was able to import the file below. In ubuntu 8.10 neither import or export works.
The setting "X-NM-Routes=10.100.0.0/16" had the effect (i think?) of routing my internet traffic from home out of the company network.

I have not been able to set this setting following any of the advices above.
I have added

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager/ubuntu intrepid main

And I stille cannot change the routing or import/export my vpn.file. I wonder if I am using the wrong client from the deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager/ubuntu intrepid main.

Its a minor problem as I can get my vpn client to work. That is I can acces my company network with the default vpn client in ubuntu 8.10

Any ideas

cheers
Peter

At that point in time PPTP didn't even support import. Closing as Invalid.

In newer releases we've implemented this, and AFAICT it seems to work properly.

If you're still running into such an issue please file a new bug report, since it's most likely not the same behavior, error messages, or configuration at all. Thanks!
