Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

After transferring songs to an ipod from rhythmbox, 'when "Quick scrolling" on the iPod (rapidly spinning the wheel so that it starts scrolling through the alphabet [first letter of each track/album/etc.] rather than just songs)' the letters displayed are incorrect. 'Instead of the normal alphabet progression, the letter 'T' [...] appear[s] between the correct letters.' This only happens if I use rhythmbox to sync the ipod, rather than itunes. I think it has something to do with artists with 'the' in the their name.

Partially taken from ubuntuforum user Pauho's post (because he explained it better than I can!) who is also having the same problem, here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5255595 Thanks Pauho!

You can see the feature working *correctly* at this link at about 1 min 38 secs in:

Basically the issue is... e.g. that instead of going: ABCFJK (because you have artists that start with those letters), the black letters which appear overlayed on the list (which are to tell you where to stop when you're scrolling very quickly through a large collection) will appear like this: ATBCTFTJT. Basically the 'T's shouldn't be there.

Is that enough or do you actually need to see it happening on the pod? Not sure I have a suitable video recording device.

that's weird i don't have such behavior in my iPod, you might want to send this upstream to bugzilla.gnome.org and also attach your ipod database to that report, since they write the software they should know better what's going on there, thanks.
