Bug Description

I have problem with my iPod since breezy (now I use dapper)
each time I try to sync it (through gtkpod) or when I try to retrieve the files
form the iPod, I had these messages in the /var/log/messages files

Nov 29 19:47:26 linbox kernel: [4296228.827000] lost page write due to I/O error
on sda2

I use usb high speed bus

ii linux-image-2.6.12-9-k7 2.6.12-9.23
Linux kernel image for version 2.6.12 on AMD
ii linux-image-k7 2.6.12.16
Linux kernel image on AMD K7.

I don't know whick package to select so I choose kernel-package.
The sync and copy works well with windows, so it seems not to be a problem with
the iPod itself.

I'll be happy to provide you more information

If possible, please upgrade to Dapper's 2.6.15-9 kernel. If you do not want to
upgrade to Dapper, then you can also try the Dapper Flight 2 CD's:
http://cdimage.ubuntulinux.org/releases/dapper/flight-2/

Let me know if this bug still exists with this kernel.

The problem appeared too last Sunday with my Digital Camera (Nikon CoolPix 4300)
when I used the mass storage usb access.
Could it be related to my hardware ?

I saw a new kernel was pushed yesterday, I will test it and will come back to you.

Hello Baptiste,

Does this issue still occur with the latest Dapper kernel? If not, please let us know so we can close this bug. Thank you.

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this linux-source-2.6.15 kernel bug to the new "linux" package. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Also, if you would be interested in testing the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release, it is available at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Please let us know your results. Thanks!
