Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

after upgrading to intrepid had many nvidia driver issues. I have since tried 177 and 173 from both nvidia and with restricted drivers manager. had them break after updates. and never after upgrade to intrepid has compiz started by default. I have always had to run compiz --replace then it works fine.

Let me know what logs you want me to attach.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

This happens some times and I have since gone to this guide to fix my issues when this does happen.
(It has happened to me or friends after an upgrade or after some updates no less than 10 times in my 2 yrs of ubuntuing)

This guide has worked every time i've seen this issue:

IMO it should be done by default with a simple Fix Video Drivers button in display settings.

Thanks for the update. I'm closing this bug since it seems to have been caused by installing the nvidia driver manually.
