I was trying to uninstall Mysql when the error occured. I did not modify
mysql init script ( i wouldn't know how or why). the attachments are the
daemon .log that you asked for. i hope it helps

Could you try to stop mysql from the command line by running:

  sudo /etc/init.d/mysql stop ?

What is the result ? Is there anything printed in /var/log/daemon.log ?

i did not try to stop the process i was trying to uninstall the program.
enclosed is a copy of the log file.

sorry i can not be of any more help, i am not that well versed in linux
but i am trying.

i will do anything you ask of me to help you get information you need.
