Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  pam-pkcs11: Depends: libldap2 (>= 2.1.17-1) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

Quick package search shows that libldap2 hasn't been in the repos since Gutsy.

 I'd assume the dep should be libldap-2.4-2 needs to be investigated though.

Hmm... Looking at debian/control, there is no hard Depends on libldap2. There is a build depends on libldap2-dev which is in Intrepid.

So the problem must be ing the Depends on: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}

Why is this confirmed?
There is no pam-pkcs11 binary package in Ubuntu, and the binary of pam-pkcs11 (libpam-pkcs11) has as a depends libldap-2.4-2.

Cesare, is contacting the maintainer directly the right step to take?
