firefox ate my bookmarks folder

Bug Description
I'm using 8.04.
I bookmarked all of my open tabs in a folder (about 30-40 tabs). I then closed the browser, started it again and confirmed the bookmarks folder was present.
After a reboot, when I started firefox again, the new bookmark folder was no longer available. It's not even present in the backups.
