I tried to run nm-applet with valgrind as described there, but for some reason it never shows up in the notification area anymore. I did kill the previously running nm-applet before, but note that this one also isn't showing up in that area.

Unfortunately I also can't remember what I did to make it crash (probably close to nothing except for booting it up). However without an icon in the notification area I can't try anything. What could be the reason that it won't show up, and how could I make it appear again?

I also got this error just after I booted up Jaunty, but network manager survived/was rebooted and currently operates flawlessly.
