Not sure what happened, this initiated by automatic crash report. Trying to uninstall envidia in synaptic, did not complete cleanly.

I am having the same issue. Ubuntu 8.04 with ATI Envy drivers installed, upgraded to 8.10. Synaptic shows residual configurations. Purging config returns the following error.

 subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 1
Processing triggers for libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place

Jon:
1) can you attach the output of this command?
ls -l /usr/lib32/fglrx
2) does it solve the problem if you type the following command and then you try to remove xorg-driver-fglrx-envy?
sudo rm -R /usr/lib32/fglrx

I renamed it to fglrx.old and tryied uninstalling.
