Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I experienced a 100% reproducable crash in firefox 3.0. I wanted to get a backtrace because I know that once i reboot, the crash will be gone for a long time. So i added the following to my sources.list:

deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com hardy main universe
deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com hardy-updates main universe
deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com hardy-proposed main universe
deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com hardy-security main universe

I installed xulrunner-dbgsym, which installed fine, and then tried to install firefox-3.0-dbgsym, which i need to get a valid backtrace from gdb. It gave me the following error:

verwilst@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install firefox-3.0-dbgsym

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  firefox-3.0-dbgsym: Depends: firefox-3.0 (= 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3) but 3.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.3 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

Thanks!

I still get this:
               firefox-3.0-dbgsym: Depends: firefox-3.0 (= 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3) but 3.0.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu2 is to be installed
               E: Broken packages

When I try to install sudo apt-get install firefox-3.0-dbgsym

not sure where to place this. this is because security builds do not yet properly produce dbgsym packages. filed against soyuz as getting security through soyuz is probably the first step here.

Setting as invalid as it installs fine on my machine, Intrepid 8.10. Please reopen it though if you can still reproduce it.

First do sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list and make sure the following is in there:

deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com intrepid main universe
deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com intrepid-updates main universe
deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com intrepid-proposed main universe
deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com intrepid-security main universe

Changed in soyuz:
status: New → Invalid
