Bug Description

Hi,

Attal package in Ubuntu is almost not playable (comparing to latest versions, released in 2005 and 2006) and *very* outdated - currently Ubuntu Dapper has attal, which was released in 2004 :( Besides current attal from Ubuntu often crashes :(((

I've packaged latest version and put debianized source and .deb packages for Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy) at ftp://ftp.akl.lt/Linux/Baltix/Baltix-Ubuntu_packages/games/
(attal needs QT4.1 from Ubuntu Dapper, so I also backported QT4.1 to Ubuntu 5.10, you can get it from same repozitory - ftp.akl.lt/Linux/Baltix/Baltix-Ubuntu_packages/ )

Please package 0.10.1 version, this version should be more playable, look
at changelog from 0.9.3, 0.9.4, 0.10 and 0.10.1 - http://www.attal-thegame.org :

Is the cyberpunk theme already useable? Should I generate a attal-theme-cyberpunk package?

You can test my packages here:

As we are in Upstream Version Freeze now, it's somehow difficult to get this into dapper, best would be if you just wait for debian.

Attal from Ubuntu dapper is *very* outdated and almost not playable (in this old version tavern is not implemented and there are no way to recruit new hero :( ) and latest upstream version looks good and is playable (I've tested your packages from http://ixios-software.com/~lfittl/ubuntu-pkg/attal/ - recompiled these on ubuntu breezy and they works really better, than current ubuntu packages).
Upstream Version Freeze for Ubuntu 6.04 (Dapper) shouldn't couse problems with updating attal, because "first phase of our progressive freeze means that no new upstream versions of packages should be uploaded *without* *prior* *approval*". (look at https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-announce/2006-January/000057.html ). So you should just ask for approval and tell, that current attal in ubuntu isn't playable.

This didn't make it in Dapper and is still not updated in Debian. I will see if I can take a look for Edgy. Sorry.

Just a side note. I just tried to build your package on Dapper and it FTBFSs. I'll keep poking. Thanks.

OK, I got the FTBFS fixed, but it looks like you aren't building all the binary packages. Installing the produced deb, I get:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of attal:
 attal depends on attal-theme-medieval (>= 0.10-0ubuntu1); however:
  Package attal-theme-medieval is not installed.

Sorry, that is my bad. attal-theme-medieval is a seperate source package. Did you happen to build a deb for that too? Thanks again.

Mantas, I took your attal package, fixed up a few things and built a new version of attal-themes-medieval from CVS. I sent it to the Debian BTS on the above bug#. I hope the Debian maintainer will use it. If not, I will see about uploading it for Edgy. Thanks for the work!
