Bug Description

After installing the flash plug-in I am able to watch a CNN news video. But after watching the first one firefox crashes when I click on the next video I want to watch. The problem is easily reproduced.

I can find no crash files in /var/crash or elsewhere.

Firefox 3.0.1 running on

Linux jhaipc-usb-alpha1 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Fri Jul 11 23:41:49 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

fully patched, as of tonight, Ubuntu 8.04.01 Client system.
VIA PC3500G Mainboard with 2GB RAM using VIA's chrome9.83-242-u804 (stable) drivers installed.

Let me know if any more information is need. New tests can be done, or more crash data collected as crashing this way is easily reproduced.

2nd crash:
Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///usr/lib/firefox-3.0.1/components/nsBrowserGlue.js :: bg__initPlaces :: line 386" data: no]
Source File: file:///usr/lib/firefox-3.0.1/components/nsBrowserGlue.js
Line: 386

1st crash:
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.1/modules/utils.js :: anonymous :: line 105" data: no]

Thank you for your bugreport. Since this seems to be an issue with
version 3 of the firefox browser, I'm reassigning the package.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
