Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

On Intrepid using network-manager 0.7~~svn20080812t224027+eni0-0ubuntu1~nm2, I have connected a Nokia E70 via USB.

I failed trying to connect to o2 Germany. I tried the following settings:

Number: *99# and *99***1#
Username/Password: both empty and both 'o2' (Provider doesn't expect any)
APN: internet
Network: empty
Type: GPRS, should actually be UMTS (see bug 259115)
Band: empty
PIN: empty
PUK: empty

This is as close I can get to a working wvdial.conf (via Bluetooth), which I will attach.

I have just found out that under Hardy and network-manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu5 / hal-info 20080508+git20080601-0ubuntu0.8.0 I can actually connect via USB using the attached wvdial.conf. This should prove that it is not the phones fault.

The APN provided looks bogus. Please test with a proper address.

"internet" is the AP that works with wvdial (see wvdial.conf, Init3).

According to

http://o2online.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/o2online.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=X5JmnObj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=478&p_li=&p_faqid=472&p_created=1182170843

there is a second access point for o2 called "surfo2", but "internet" is also ok.

I have just found out that if I leave the AP empty, I get a connection.

Waiting for 50 ms between sending AT commands fixes the problem. Alexander, thanks a lot for helping!

we should wait 10ms to make a bunch of modems happy.
