Bug Description

Using Intrepid Alpha 4 the livecd had no sound by default and post install also no sound be default. I have an audigy 2 sound card. The root cause of the problem is that the driver defaults to enabling digital out under alsamixer resulting in everyone who has analogue amplification (the majority) not having sound by default. The fix is:

1. Open terminal
2. Run alsamixer
3. On the toggle digital out section, hit the key m to toggle it off.

I think the default setting should be changed to analog as clearly the majority of users are not going to have digital amplification for their sound. I realise it cant be both ways but the majority use case should win out.

Same here.
I upgraded today from a working hardy amd64 version to Intrepid alpha4.

Sound stopped working immediately, but toggling the digital out section like described helped.

Moved to confirmed as another user reported the same issue and I have no doubts as to this situation.
