Bug Description
After a clean Ubuntu installation (ubuntu 8.04 hardy, kernel 2.6.24-19), and running the update manager by invoking "update-manager -d", the system can be updated to ubuntu version 8.10. When this update is invoked, the updater starts downloading. However, when the update screen looses the mouse focus or the mouse is not moving for a little while (about 1-5 minutes), the execution of the update seems to pause. Moving the mouse again will continue the update.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It would help us greatly if you could test with the Release Candidate for Intrepid_Ibex, 8.10 so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http:// www.ubuntu. com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
If the bug is still valid in the RC, could you please attach the files in /var/log/ dist-upgrade to this bug report?
Also, it would help if the others experiencing could add their comments to this bug report. Thanks in advance.
