Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 4: Flash videos slow down the system extremely

I just went to liveleak.com after and noticed that playing Flash videos there creates a severe performance issue. Menus sometimes lag by 3 seconds in Firefox.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I can confirm this behaviour with the following Flashpackage installed. Ordinary DivX, MPG, ... Videos are not affected, only FLV and other Flash animations:

I can confirm this is still current in 8.10 Alpha 5, serious system slowdown, perhaps due to lack of ATI drivers automatically installed in Alpha 5??

but my situation is slightly different.

I use firefox3 with flash 10 in a terminal server env.
When i start a video at youtube my firefox behaves horrible. a few seconds lag in the menu's.
When i disable hardware accel it doens't change a thing.

I can understand that flash video's or slow but it shouldn't hang my browser.

flash seems to be using up memmory

I have the same problem. I had to use flashblock in order to get firefox work... i think this is a problem with some nvidia cards.

hello i have problems too. when i try to play http://www.virtualregatta.com/index_vendee.php?play=1 is difficolt to choose parameters, when i see videos in youtube Flash became slow, processor activity increase, and audio works bad.
i have Ubuntu 8.10, flash 10.0 r15, firefox32 3.0.3 in a 64 bit ubuntu. I did a try some days ago with firefox 32 3.05 but is worst.

Have same problems.

At site http://vetrovsk.livejournal.com/tag/МУЗИКА i click 2 times at "Previours 20" link (at end of page) at firefox hangs on with extreme processor(99%) and memory usage(413Mb). I even dont click "Play" in flash videos :)

I have NVidia video adapter.
latest FireFox.3.0.5.
Abobe flash plugin 10.0.15.3-1interpid2.

What cause such problems in previous releases?
