Bug Description

Hi,

On first login with 0.7 on intrepid after rebooting nm-applet didn't
come up. Looking in ~/.xsession-errors showed the following
backtrace.

ii network-manager 0.7~~svn20080720t224551+eni1-0ubu network management framework daemon
ii network-manager-gnome 0.7~~svn20080721t051503-0ubuntu1 network management framework (GNOME frontend)

Unfortunately apport didn't catch it, so this is all the information
I have, I hope it is enough.

nm-applet started fine when I ran it from the command line after
seeing this.

Thanks,

James

I experienced a similar bug on a Hardy box using network-manager PPA packages. It seems the new version of the Network Manager cannot import pre-0.7 gconf wireless settings.

As a workaround, remove old settings using gconf-editor (/system/networking/wireless) and configure it again.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Well, it's an upgrade issue, so it's not still an issue for me, I've not upgraded
again.

It would still be worth investigating as upgrades from hardy to the next LTS
may be affected.

Thanks,

James

I have tagged this bug accordingly, but do not have a testing system to be able to try this.
The Intrepid version of network-manager has had an update to 0.7~~svn20081020t000444-0ubuntu1.8.10.3 but I don't know if this would cause/cure the problem.
Is anyone able to test this with an Intrepid system?
Thank you.

Has anyone had a chance to test this? We're in Beta 1 nearly Beta 2 of Lucid. Thanks.
