Bug Description

The intel driver seems to fail to show the login prompt for the following Intel graphics controllers:

Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller
Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller
  Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller

The Xorg.0.log confirms that the intel driver is being loaded:

  (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//intel_drv.so

So, I suspect this is a generalized problem. Please let me know if you need more information.

Try disabling the boot splash screen by removing the "splash" parameter from the kernel command line. Some corruption bugs with the splash-screen sometimes mean my boxes X11 driver won't display anything. Removing the splash screen fixes that temporarily.

This is with Intrepid kernel, video drivers, X.org, on a Hardy box.
