Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When using compiz in intrepid custom keyboard shortcuts are not used. I have set Alt+F2 to switch to second desktop, but instead the run command is launched. Switching to metacity solves the problem.

I have the same issue here, this seemed to work before. I nominated this for intrepid.

Am I reading this wrong, or is the bug you're reporting that Compiz uses the keyboard shortcuts you set for Compiz instead of using the keyboard shortcuts you set for Metacity? If so, that's not a bug. System -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts is for Metacity. Compiz has its own keyboard shortcut settings in ccsm.

This worked before. And ccsm is not even in default installation. Compiz is. It shall therefor obey settings from the system preferences menu.

Happening to me aswel!

I've gone through every setting and i can't fix the problem.

It happened when i upgraded to 8.10.

I had my SUPER L button as a shortcut to firefox but now i can't assign "LAUNCH WEB BROWSER" to any key.

Thank you for your bug.

Compiz overrides the key settings in System>Preferences>Keyboard Shortcuts however these keys still work if compiz has not used them for anything else.

Specifically for alt-F2 you will have to install compizconfig-settings-manager and modify the keys compiz has configured for the run dialog: System>Preferences>CompizConfig Settings Manager>Gnome Compatibility

Agree with #3. If a clean install (e.g. 11.04) includes Compiz then it is very strange to also ship a keyboard shortcuts manager that is unable to affect the shortcuts that Compiz respects. The but may well be in the packaging of Ubuntu without CCSM or in the old/Metacity shortcut manager, but overall the user experience is that there is a bug somewhere.

This appears to have been fixed for me. I've tested on 11.10 and it works for me.
