Thank you for taking your time to file this bug and help make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately you haven't provided enough information for us to look into this bug. Please specify the version of OpenOffice.org you are able to reproduce this bug in Feisty and Gutsy. Also, can you attach the ~/.xsession-errors file (the file is found as a hidden file in your home directory) taken immediately after the program crash, as a separate attachment to the bug report.

In addition you may also like to check https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingOpenOffice for more information on debugging OpenOffice.

I tried the reported bug in Feisty with OpenOffice.org 2.2.0, but was unable to reproduce the bug. The program does take some time to respond in the middle, which might be due to low availability of resources in that machine, but it never crashed or hung. The scrolling continued after getting struck in the middle for few seconds but didn't happen in successive scrolling up and down the document.

Thanks in advance.

This bug even by the original submitter is acknowledged to be fixed in Hardy and I can not reproduce this bug in Intrepid either, hence it is marked Fix Released. Older releases only have security fixes applied to them. Leave this as Fix Released unless you can reproduce this in Intrepid.

If it wasn't already clear Feisty is completely unsupported now as of Oct 19, 2008, it will no longer even receive security fixes. Gutsy will continue to receive security updates until Apr 18, 2009, but won't be receiving any other kind of update.

chris: thanks for your info.
