Bug Description

1. enable most used application of kde.
2. run few programmes like firefox, thunderbird etc.
3. click on k menu and check the most used menu.

expected result:
- most used menu should be in ascending order.

actual result:
- most used menu is in descending order.

eg:in the image that i am attaching, i use konsole and firefox the most.
these should be easily accessible. these should be immediately after "all
application".

main-menu is an installer component, and has nothing to do with KDE. I don't
know what bit of KDE is responsible for this, so I'm guessing.

I get the expected behavior in 3.5.2 - that is, my most commonly used application is at the top of the menu. Are you still seeing the reported behavior?

No no. You did not understand me. I want them at the bottom.
The appl that I most use should be accessible to me in least possible mouse movement. That can be achieved only if they are at the bottom. Bottom means, just above the end of KDE menu list.

Else a heavy customisation to make the behaviour of KDE similar to Windows XP will also do.

Setting this to confirmed, since it does behave the way you describe, and setting severity to wishlist since it's almost certainly behaving as designed. Editorial note: I prefer it the way it is. One reason is that I access the K menu primarily by right-clicking on my desktop (a small config customization) and my most-used app is closest to my cursor in that case.

"(a small config customization)"...
Considering that Ubuntu is focused on desktop newbie users, your custimisation would not be available to the majority of the users.

Anyway, I would suggest that a setting should be provided and the user can select whether an ascending or a descending menu should be shown.

Regrettably, the "most used application" feature was lost in the move to KDE4. Therefore there is no way to add sorting functionality to this feature. You can, however, track the feature request for the re-inclusion of the most used application feature here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179953
Thanks for understanding.
