Bug Description

I'm using avant-window-manager-trunk, version 0.3.1~bzr440-hardy1-1
When I right click on the launcher, I am able to change the icon.
When I go into the settings manager and edit the properties of the icon, and click to change the icon (the way it's done everywhere else in Gnome), it changes the icon displayed in the box of the preferences window, but when I try to click OK, nothing happens. The preferences window just sits there. Closing or canceling cancels the icon change.

Con confirm this. The shell gives the following message when I click "OK" in the above situation:

Ah, "Permission denied?" So if you run it as root, does it work?

Yes, works if I run as root, without any error messages.

If anybody fixes this, could I please say that the "Open" button in that menu should rather be dubbed "Browse" since it takes you to a file browser and you can select an executable.

Warning, if you run awn as root, then everything you launch from it will be run as root.

I did not try to recommend to run awn as root. But still, at least we know what the problem is. It should be possible to fix it.

There should be atleast an error message saying:

"You don't have the permission to edit this launcher. If you still want to edit this file you need to update the permissions of the file %s".
