Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
Hi,
I'm running a somewhat special setup with dual head using 2 instances of the xserver (xorg.conf attached).
When running firefox on one "head", say :0.0 and another application that is typically able to pass a URL to firefox on the other "head", say thunderbird on :0.1, I get the follwing error message whenever I try to open a URL from withing thunderbird:
<cite head="Close Firefox">
Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.
</cite>
I tried to add the following to my
~/.mozilla/
<cite head="~
DISPLAY=:0.0
</cite>
but this doesn't change anything, it seems this information is parsed only after the communication with the running firefox instance has failed.
However, when I patch my
/usr/lib/
with:
<cite head="patch">
37,40d36
< if [ -f $MOZDIR/firefox/rc ] ; then
< . $MOZDIR/firefox/rc
< fi
<
</cite>
everything works as expected.
Only thing: I have to re-patch it after every update.
Can you please look into this.
Thanks a lot
Torge

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.
