Application switcher border only encloses the leftmost thumbnail

Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz-fusion-plugins-main

The border of the application switcher window is only large enough to enclose one of the thumbnail windows, no matter how many windows are shown. Instead of showing a centered window enclosing all the window thumbnails, there is a small rectangle with a border and shadow on the left of the screen enclosing one window thumbnail, and the title of the highlighted window is shown in the bottom of this small rectangle (although the title is cropped if it is too long to fit in this tiny box). The remaining window thumbnails are spilling out to the right and lack a border (except a partial shadow on the rightmost edge). The thumbnails otherwise look like they've had their border cropped. (I'm attaching a screenshot.)

Occasionally, the border will momentarily enclose all the thumbnails, but after a split second it will go back to enclosing only the leftmost one.

I've been experiencing this bug for a long time now. I'm using the intel graphics driver.

I'm using compiz-fusion-plugins-main 0.7.4-0ubuntu6

This is still a problem in Intrepid (which I still use), in that the application switcher border still generally leaves a column of windows outside the border. (That is, if you have 3 windows open, the border encircles the leftmost 2. If you have 5 open, it leaves parts of the two windows on the right side out.)

I don't know if bugfixes are still being backported to Intrepid. If so this may still be worth looking into.

No compiz bugfixes ever get backported except for severe crashes and security problems, just like the rest of Ubuntu. You should see if you can reproduce this problem with a karmic LiveCD. I do remember a fix for either this problem or a similar one some time before the jaunty release though.
