Kdenlive video editor for linux

Description:
Kdenlive is a multitrack non linear video editor for the KDE environment running on Linux.
It is based on the MLT video framework which relies on the FFmpeg project.

License: GNU Free Documentation License

Notes:
It has been designed for KDE.
Can it be made to work well with Gnome?

Needs a package for AMD64 (a good multimedia architecture)

This is already packaged for Ubuntu and there is an AMD64 package. Please check to see if a package is available before submitting a needs-packaging bug.

Is it possible to make kdenlive available for earlier versions of Ubuntu (which are still supported) ?

That would require a backport of the package to the release you want. You can learn more about the process at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports specifically "How to request new packages".
