Bug Description
Binary package hint: pidgin
Sometimes (note that it doesn't happen everytime but most of the time) when I want to check my Hotmail inbox Firefox opens but it I get to the login screen and it says my password is incorrect. I have to enter my password manually and then I get to my Inbox. It should always go straight to my inbox as my password can impossibly be incorrect as I'm logged in on MSN.
The steps I do to make this happen are the following:
1. Click the email notification bar.
2. Select the "<email address hidden> has X new messages" item and click Open Mail.
3. Firefox opens with the login screen.
This has always been a problem for me. It happens on Gutsy, Hardy and Intrepid aswell as on Windows XP (I've used atleast 3 different versions and they all have the same issue). Last time it happened was 10 minutes ago on Windows XP using Pidgin 2.4.3 (note that this is not about the XP version, it happens on Ubuntu aswell).
If there's any other information I should provide please let me know.

Thank you for filing this bug and helping us make Ubuntu better.
Asking around for the expected response when an email notification is clicked was that it is ideally expected to open the inbox in a browser window but hasn't been happening for years. Hence this is a confirmed bug, but am not able to find a corresponding bug in upstream bug trackers' bug list at http:// developer. pidgin. im/wiki/ OpenBugs.
This bug can also be marked as wishlist as it was suggested in #ubuntu-bugs.
