Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-backports-modules-hardy

Setup a wireless repeater for my network. Works perfect in windows, however in ubuntu it detects the MAC address of the repeater and the main router and I can not get an internet connection... Tried taking out the MAC address of the main router in the network settings of the SSID name and it works briefly until it detects/associates the router with the network again. Any Ideas?

I guess what I am asking/what I need to do, is to specify ONE single MAC address to attach to which is the repeater which has the SAME SSID as the main router. I try to do it with the network utility like i said but it re detects the one I don't one.

This bug was reported against the linux-meta package when it likely should have been reported against the linux package instead. We are automatically transitioning this to the linux kernel package so that the appropriate teams are notified and made aware of this issue. Thanks.

affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Hi pickett.aaron,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . Please then run following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` 255897

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi pickett.aaron,

Care to actually retest against the latest Karmic 9.10 Alpha developement release? http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic . Assuming the issue remains, please re-run apport-collect (it didn't seem to gather anything for jaunty):

apport-collect -p linux 255897
