Bug Description

Binary package hint: hwtest

Running pavucontrol while doing the sound test in hwtest shows that the sound is not going through pulseaudio

Basically this means, by default, if any other application is using the sound card while you are running the test, you wont be able to hear the test sound (even if your sound card does actually work). This will lead to incorrect data on working sound cards.

tested this on ubuntu hardy 8.04.1 on several computers, and 8.10 alpha 3 live cd

Note: the test needs to use the default GStreamer sink (/source), not PA explicitly.
