Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

The problem came from the possibility to block the images from a site. I had inadvertently blocked the images from cartoonbox.slate.com while not even knowing this feature exists. I had to surf cartoonbox.slate.com using another browser for almost a year... I believe current versions of Firefox are less prone to this problem occurring and going unattended.

Since this report have a long time without activity, could you check (if is possible) in latest version included in Karmic if this issue is still happening? Additionally, I tried to reproduce this issue using Ubuntu Karmic (up-to-date) and everything works fine here.
Thanks in advance.

The problem was due to me accidentally instructing Firefox to no more load images from that given web server. So I kept having advertising images, because they are loaded from other servers. But no more cartoon images from the Slate.com server.

I didn't even know that preventing to load images from a given server was possible with Firefox and it was far too easy, by a simple unnoticed keystroke or mouse click, to have the images from a site blockaded.

Months later I understood the problem and then learned to re-authorize the loading of the images, using the Preferences dialog box from Firefox. I had to do it quite often.

Then the problem faded away, probably because the entry to disallow loading the images, inside Firefox' pop-up menu, was placed much lower in the menu.
