Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

At home I've started Psi and deleted several jabber contacts from my roster (actually, I've used http://www.jabber.ru/jabaddons/jru/jru.php to delete contacts, and they successfully disappered from Psi).
Then at work I opened Pidgin, and realized that all deleted contacts are still in Pidgin roster (they aren't in server-side list, I've checked this by jru and psi).

I expected contacts to be removed from client-side list automatically, or, at least, I expected Pidgin to have some button or menu-item for resynchronizing contact lists (actually, to reload client-side list from the server-side list).

P.S.: Now I can remove and re-create all jabber accounts (it works), but is very unhandy to do it every time.
P.P.S.: I'm using KUbuntu 8.04(.1), pidgin package version 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1.

I confirm.

It's even worst : if you delete a Jabber contact from within Pidgin, the contact will be marked as offline but will still stay there !! You have to "show offline contact" and delete it a second time.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

This bug still exist in 8.10 and is easy to reproduce :
1) Connect with pidgin to an existing Jabber account
2) Remove an online contact
3) Display the offline contacts :the deleted contact is still there.

Another confirmation of the issue here in 8.10 - possible workaround: deactivate the account where you need the server-side and client-side lists to be synced, and reactivate it. Pidgin will then sync, removing deleted contacts (at least this worked for me).

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance.

I'm seeing this bug still using Pidgin ( Linux or Windows ) or Adium ( Mac osx) and using Jabber / XMPP protocol. Reproduce by deleting an account, then in the chat client "Show Offline Users".
