pidgin opens then closes

PIDGIN VERSION: 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2.1

Whenever I go to open up Pidgin, the window pops up for a couple of seconds and then closes. No icon in the system tray, nothing. It just pops up, then closes. I tried completely uninstalling, then reinstalling, but no dice. Can anyone help? I'll try to provide whatever information it is you need, Apport opened so I'm expecting it will append some technical info for you, and I opened up the debug window in Pidgin, so I might have some more technical info for you soon. Thank you so much for looking into this problem.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test a current, supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 254818 , and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
