package winbind 2:3.2.0-4ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade:

Bug #254813 reported by matti

Bug Description

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of winbind:
 winbind depends on samba-common (= 2:3.2.0-4ubuntu2); however:
Version of samba-common on system is 2:3.2.0-4ubuntu3.
dpkg: error processing winbind (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 winbind

Looks to the untrained eye that samba-common 4ubuntu3 was installed before the winbind was ready for installation.
Expected that the prereq 4ubuntu2 "or newer" would have been more appropriate and that the installation routine would allow continuing even if prereq was newer, if not regress and reupdate the samba.

Currently, to the user, winbind remains on the update list uninstallable through every iteration of new update installs. Update tries to but fails on unspecified "dependency problem".

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in samba.
