Bug Description

I want to convert Audio CD. When I choose File -> Add CD Tracks soundKonverter tells me "No Audio CD Found". It`s ok with my CD-ROM and system configuration, i think, because Dolphin detects my disk well.
Now I can convert my cd using soundKonverter only by choosing right variant in autorun menu, and it doesn`t satisfy me by different reasons.

so soundkonverter can actually rip the cd but can't query for cds?
are you using kde4? i'm not using kde4/ubuntu and i don't know if the kde3 device demon is running.
and what do you mean by "it doesn`t satisfy me by different reasons"?

Yes, soundkonverter can convert the cd well, but it doesn`t detect it. No, i`m using KDE 3.5.9.
It`s not comfortable always to choose right variant in autorun menu, because sometimes i forget add all needed tracks to list. In that way I must close soundkonverter, and run autorun menu twice to call soundkonverter at second time.
Do you understand me? (my english is very bad)

ok, could you run soundkonverter from konsole, try to add audio cd tracks and post the output.
also you could post the output of 'dcop kded mediamanager fullList' (only the - maybe last - block with "media/audiocd" in it is needed) maybe that could help, too.
and you could try to play the audio cd with kaffeine (that's where i got the code for audio cd detection from).
and yes, i understand you ;) i'm not a native speaker either.

So, when i try add audio cd tracks soundkonverter says:
"QLayout "topGridLayout" added to CDOpener "CDOpener", which already has a layout"

The last block of 'dcop kded mediamanager fullList':
---
/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_part_1_size_513726464
scd0
Audio CD

false
/dev/scd0

false
audiocd:/?device=/dev/scd0
media/audiocd

false
---

And what about kaffeine... It`s really interesting, kaffeine can`t detect my cd. Oops!.. Amarok can`t play audio cd too :( So, maybe it`s not only your problem...

Dolphin open Audio CD correctly, in address bar i can see "system:/media/scd0/". Dolphin shows me list of wav-files, and folders "cda", "mp3", "Ogg Vorbis", etc. Some applications (like Konquerror) try to open Audio CD as "audiocd:/", and it doesn`t work correctly. It shows same folders which Dolphin showed, but this folders are without any files. Maybe our problem has beginning from here.

Have you any ideas?

I just get "No audio CD found" and I can load them in Amarok and I can use K3b to rip CD's but only into OggVorbis. Issue with lame settings so another thing to figure out.

Frustrating. I can then turn the Ogg files into whatever I want. but lossy to lossy isn't so good I think.

what aboud running:

soundkonverter --rip /dev/your_cd_device

would be interesting if that worked.
