Bug Description

I just tried the new Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 3 Live CD. Instead of the Ubuntu logo with the progress bar, half of my screen (top) became red. Following that white bars start coming through the red. Following this, the normal Ubuntu desktop appeared.

I have an Asus M50-SvA1 notebook with a Nvidia 9500m video card.

This bug also affects me in a certain way. I was able to boot from the Live CD, but after installing to my HDD and rebooting, the first thing I see is the top half of my screen is bright red, with the bottom half of my screen black, and a constant BEEP coming from the PC speaker.

I think this is more than a usplash bug. Here are my PC specs:

Thermaltake M9 Case w/430w PSU
AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 6000+ (3000mhz CPU)
Gigabyte GA-M750SLI-DS4 mainboard (Nvdia chipset)
4GB DDR2 1066mhz RAM
Nvidia 9600GT PCIe/512mb DDR3/DVI
2x Western Digital 500gb SATA 7200rpm drives
1x Western Digital Caviar 36gb 10,000rpm SATA drive
ASUS Dual Layer DVD Burner
Linksys Wireless G USB adapter
