Bug Description

Binary package hint: klamav

If i scanning a file from the konqueror service menu (Actions->Scan with KlamAV) it will scan that file/folder OK, but if i close that tab and selecting a new scan target in the Launcher tab it will only scan the original target no matter what i select.

Expected behavior: Scanning the new selected files/folder.
What do work is if i don't close KlamAV and selecting a new scan target in Konqueror it will scan the new target in KlamAV.

Kubuntu Hardy
KlamAV 0.42
ClamAV 0.92.1

This is correct, but it is the way it is supposed to work. Klamav is meant to only have one instance running at a time. Given that, I don't think what you're asking is possible.

Perhaps i didn't explained it right. I don't want to run several instances i want to be able to do a new scan on a other file/folder in my already running KlamAV (started from "Actions->Scan with KlamAV" in Konqueror).

If i start KlamAV from the menu i can select a file/folder that i want to scan in the file-tree in KlamAV, press scan and it will scan the files/folders i selected then i can select a new file/folder press scan and KlamAV will scan my new selection. That don't work if i start KlamAV from the service menu in Konqueror no matter what i select in the file-tree and press scan it will only scan the file i selected in Konqueror.

If one is not supposed to select a new file to scan in already running KlamAV (started from the service menu) there should be some visual aid that tell it can't be done like disable/hide the Launcer tab or disable the scan button.

OK. I can't replicate what I think you are descriping as your problem. I did two things (all from the service menu):

1. Scanned one file, waited for it to finish, then selected another file and picked it for scanning with the service menu.

Both files were scanned.

2. Selected one file for scanning and before it completed immediately selected another with the service menu for scanning.

In this case the display did not immediately reflect any change, but once the first file finished scanning, the second one was scanned.

Is it possible you just aren't waiting long enough for the first one to finish (getting the scan started takes a bit even for a single file).

In your 1.) if you select a new file from within your already started KlamAV (not a new one from the service menu) and scan that it will not scan your new selected file but the file you selected and scanned from the service menu, and no matter what new file you selecting in KlamAV it will always scan the file you started KlamAV with.
Thats is a bug for me, not critical just annoying.

That's little different than I tried. I'll look into that.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

The Konqueror service menus don't currently work at all with KDE4, so until Klamav is ported, this function is non-existant.
