I don't know if this is a known bug, and if it is really a bug, but it can be quite annoying.

It is quite hard to describe it, but this is how to reproduce it (at least it works like that on my computer).

Open some program where you can type (in this case it works while I am typing this report) and make sure the SCIM (smart common input method) is on (which language I think is not important). Right click on the Workspace switcher --> preferences. The Workspace switcher preferences menu will now come up. Close it, and you will find yourself back in the window with the program you were typing in; it will look exactly as the active window, with the cursor blinking etc. The problem is that nothing happens if you type: I have first to reselect the window by clicking in the upper window border (the one with the name of the program), clicking in the window itself does not work.

This might seem like a futile bug report, but it is quite annoying because it happens with much more things than the Workspace switcher preferences menu alone (I am not opening that every 5 minutes...), for instance, when a new aMSN contact comes online, which can happen more frequently. When I turn SCIM of, I don't have the problem, but the problem is that I need SCIM (I don't know with other input methods, I have never tried another one)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. Which distribution and release version are you using?

Can you please test with the latest Intrepid RC images and report back if this problem still exists?
