Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Tried importing the "Yorshire Rose" image from wikipedia into OpenOffice 2.4.1
Writer (Ubuntu 8.04) - the image was incorrectly rendered.
(The file imported correctly into gimp on the same platform)

1. Start openoffice writer, from the menu select insert->picture->from file
2. Select the svg image
3. Observe

The same error is observed opening the file in draw, using the same procedure.

Attached are 3 attachments :
yorkshire_rose.svg : file which causes problem.
yorkshire_rose.png : image as it should be rendered.
oo2_svg_bug.jpg : screenshot of "mangled" image.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu better, I can in fact confirm this behavior, bug has been marked as confirmed for one of the devs to pick up.

Do you still have this problem with openoffice.org 1:2.4.1-11ubuntu2 in Ubuntu 8.10?

Yes, unfortunately it's exactly the same.

For me it doesn't display as exploded but the outline for the petals looks a bit off. So its still not perfect as is displayed in Firefox but it looks a LOT better than the screenshot in the bug report.

Sorry, I'm not using Ubuntu 8.10 here, waiting for it's final release. This is on 8.04.

This is just an issue with OOo not anti-aliasing well, if you set zoom to something high like 1000% you will see the entire image.

Upstream said this:

"Chris, the petal edges are there, just obscured by aliasing. Zooming in will
show them fully. Sadly, this is nothing I can fix for SVG import (but there's
work underway to have Draw/Impress use cairo)"
