Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Screen captures images: firefox-
This phenomenon has not happened on any other web site, and i've been surfing, er "researching" quite a lot with Firefox 3.0 on Ubuntu 8.04, installed since about two weeks ago. Many hundreds of sites, including fancy designer sites using ajax, flash, etc etc.
The site whose URL i give uses xhtml, which may be uncommon in some particular way to trigger this bug. Maybe there's a clue in the page source as seen by firefox.

i want to mention this does not appear to be the same as an earlier bug in the list shown while i submitted this one - that user was merely getting text zoomed in a couple steps more than ideal, while i'm getting letters the size of planets, and within a second after seeing a mostly normal rendering.
Also, zooming out alone does not restore normal appearance. Positioning of letters is strange, like CSS or text metrics are all messed up until the page is reloaded.
