Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIStringBundle.formatStringFromName]

Last thing to happen was I was viewing an HTML page that I deleted prior to closing the Firefox window, then the app hung. Now after multiple reboots I still get the same error window. But I can use Firefox. Thanks

I had a similar issue: all my firefox bookmarks disapeared, and I had a popup with this error message at startup:
Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIStringBundle.formatStringFromName]

Fortunately, I could restore my bookmarks from a backup of my profile (backups are great!), and to get rid of this error message, I removed the 'Forecastfox extended' extension. The problem disapeared... It looks like a recent update of that extension caused lots of damage...

Hope this helps,
Ludovic

This can happen if firefox has been started as root.
sudo chown -R myname:mygroup ~/.mozilla
fixed this behaviour at my place.

Seems this happened because I opened a Terminal as SU while firefox was open. Don't know, reset the permissions on my home folder and everything is good again. Thx
