Bug Description

In short I'd like the ability to change the default x,y coordinates for the mounted icons for removable devices.

Long description:

a while back i moved the icons for my CD drives around to custom spots (when mounted). Since then it has gotten messed up, and now they look weird poping up in the middle of the desktop, and i want to either reset them to the default settings, or set them to mount on the right side of the desktop like osx.

Unfortunately (Nautilus ?) gnome does not have the ability to even reset to default positions.

I would like 4 options:

1. Ability to reset after messing with their positions.
2. Ability to select positions on Top-Left Side.
3. Ability to select positions on Top-Right side of desktop like OSX.
4. Ability to select positions just along the top.

Oh, well okay. I had searched launchpad bug reports very hard, and did not find any the same. I found one that was similar, but i had not not seen the same bug report. But, if you know that there is already a bug report the same, then okay cool. I just hope it gets fixed. Even though I've heard that modifying nautilus is difficult.

there is some bugs about icons placement issues so it can be considered as one of those request to get that reworked, the ubuntu team doesn't have the ressources to work on such changes anyway and the option seems something most users will not need to that's really a low priority wishlist

It would be nice if you could at least provide a link to the other bug report. And I disagree that this is a low priority. Just because no one else has reported about this "bug" before does not mean that it is of low priority. Yes, most gnome users will (hopefully) never find out that by moving their mounted icons to custom spots may cause problems, and cannot even be 'reset to default'. This is a horrible bug caused b the lack of such a logical feature. I reported this as a bug here, because i do not know how to report this to the gnome maintainers.

the bug doesn't prevent users to use their computer, is not a security issue and is not a frequent complain so it's low priority, that's how bugs are triaged

There is http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322213 about that upstream for example, or http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301615
